Poland says U.S. shield a foregone conclusion

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. missile-defense system will be built in Poland despite Russia’s anger over the plans, Polish President Lech Kaczynski said on Monday after a meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush.

Kaczynski expressed confidence over the proposed system, although Poland has held off a formal agreement to host it and pressed for concessions on issues including related military contracts.

“The matter of the shield is largely a foregone conclusion,” Kaczynski said at a news conference following the meeting.

“The shield will exist because for Poland this will be a very good thing,” he said. Read More Here.

Hamas: Operating in Iraq and Hosted in the United States

The Islamic Terrorist organization Hamas (Harakat Al-Muqawama Al-Islamia), historically based in the occupied Palestinian territories and backed by Syria, has begun operating in the Iraqi theater. Hamas’s Iraq wing currently has two websites hosted in the United States. Hamas in Iraq is currently known as “The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, Iraq: Al Fatih Al Islamy Brigades”.

These websites are “hamasiraq.net” and “hamasiraq.com”and judging by the “registrant contact “addresses of “Hamas, Demaskas, Syria” they appear to be unconcerned about anyone finding them.

HamasIraq.com is hosted in California, United States by Yahoo! Inc.

HamasIraq.net is hosted in Delaware , United States by “Host Department LLC“.

Hamas is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the U.S. Dept. of State.

Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) are foreign organizations that are designated by the Secretary of State in accordance with section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended. FTO designations play a critical role in our fight against terrorism and are an effective means of curtailing support for terrorist activities and pressuring groups to get out of the terrorism business.

It is a violation of applicable United States legal code for a U.S. based business to enter into a business relationship with a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Providing material support or resources to designated FTO’s.
(a) Prohibited Activities.—

To violate this paragraph, a person must have knowledge that the organization is a designated terrorist organization (as defined in subsection (g)(6)), that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorist activity (as defined in section 212(a)(3)(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act), or that the organization has engaged or engages in terrorism (as defined in section 140(d)(2) of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1988 and 1989).

Court Rejects ACLU Domestic Spying Suit

CINCINNATI — A divided federal appeals court rejected a lawsuit Friday challenging President Bush’s domestic spying program without ruling on the issue of whether warrantless wiretapping is legal.

In a 2-1 decision with Republican-appointed judges in the majority, a three-judge panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the plaintiffs had no standing to sue because they couldn’t prove their communications had been monitored by the government.

WASHINGTON – A nuclear terrorist attack on the U.S. is better than an even bet in the next 10 years, says a former assistant secretary of defense and author of a book on the subject.

“Based on current trends, a nuclear terrorist attack on the United States is more likely than not in the decade ahead,” says Graham Allison, director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and author of “Nuclear Terrorism: The Ultimate Preventable Catastrophe.”

Allison, who has testified before Congress on the subject, says the illicit economy for narcotics and illegal alien trafficking “has built up a vast infrastructure that terrorists could exploit” in delivering a nuclear weapon to its target in the U.S.
