University of Colorado Board Votes to Fire Embattled Professor Ward Churchill

FoxNews BOULDER, Colo. — The University of Colorado’s governing board on Tuesday fired a professor whose essay likening some Sept. 11 victims to a Nazi leader provoked national outrage and led to an investigation of research misconduct.

Ward Churchill, who had vowed to sue if the Board of Regents took action against him, said immediately after the 8-1 vote was announced: “New game, new game.”

Three faculty committees had accused Churchill of plagiarism, falsification and other misconduct. The research allegations stem from some of Churchill’s other writings, although the investigation began after the controversy over his Sept. 11 essay.

“The decision was really pretty basic,” said university President Hank Brown, adding that the school had little choice but to fire Churchill to protect the integrity of the university’s research.

“The individual did not express regret, did not apologize, did not indicate a willingness to refrain from this type of falsification in the future,” Brown said.

Pelosi Invests in Iran

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has disclosed that she holds stock valued at up to $15,000 in Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Alcatel SA), a company with extensive investments in Iran and Sudan — nations that sponsor terrorism.

The disclosure of Pelosi’s holdings comes at the same time that legislation is making its way through the California legislature barring state pension fund managers from investing in companies, like Alcatel-Lucent, that do business with “terror-friendly” nations.

A Longish Rant: Good Candidates Don’t Listen to the Blogosphere

One thing that is always on my mind is how we can improve the current stock of candidates for public office generally. This line of thought also goes hand-in-hand with how we can get better bureaucrats, although I should say I think most people who work in the US government aren’t bad people at all. In India, for example, one has to bribe every other person in order to get things done (they say that’s changing. They also say Sanjaya can sing).

Perhaps we should learn something from our Leftist friends in this endeavor. They’ve wanted candidates to be more responsive to them, and they’ve gotten exactly what they desired – a bunch of nasty, incompetent scumwads in Congress playing on their worst passions in order to obstruct the Bush administration merely for the heck of it. If you’re a Lefty and don’t believe this, look at Pat Leahy. Does he stand for anything besides attacking Republicans?

I mean, seriously. If I were a Leftist, I’d have to be mad at the way things are going. Then again, I’d be a Lefty with an agenda: I’d want greater youth involvement in voting and initiatives to educate and work with them; I’d want more money spent on the cities and an auditing system for local police and local elections at the federal level. I’d be aiming to turn this place into a welfare state, but I’d do it by deficit spending and lowering taxes, and hope that the long term returns could fund whatever project I had in mind.

Now I’m not a Lefty, but I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out that the Democrats in Congress and running for President have no agenda besides “war is bad, if you hate war, vote for us.” And that’s the positive part of their spiel.

I think it’s time to see that populist rage through the blogosphere created this monster whereby people manipulate themselves. There’s no discussion about policy occurring on the Left, no attempt to seriously appraise proposals or plan anything. At least some on the Right try – to defend the President’s policy, for example, is to contemplate what that policy could do, good or bad. To attack is far easier, because attacking can be character assassination, and I think we can see that 99% of the conspiracy theory that passes for information on the Net reduces to “Bush strangles little kittens.”

What we can learn from the Left is that while positive criteria for a candidate is hard to come by, one criterion that’s critical is the ability of a candidate to ignore the baser elements in his party.

While I know all of us are rational, I think it’s a good thing we’re ignored if that means conservative candidates are ignoring much of the blogosphere. There’s a lot of stuff out here on the Right I know none of us want to be associated with – in my case, don’t bring those arguments for secession or states’ rights anywhere near me. I know what that’s code for, and it’s not a legitimate part of political discourse in any sense.

I suppose then I need to say what the value of the blogosphere is, if we can’t influence candidates directly.

I’d actually say the value is more important than dealing with individual candidates and exercising power – if we get to know each other as Americans, isn’t that something? There’s a poem of Emily Dickinson’s I like to cite in which I think she takes the idea there is no God literally, and comes to the conclusion that what is divine in that case is the time we spend with each other (perhaps it is my taking that idea seriously that has led me to missing my exes way too much).

Is It Liberalism Or Marxism That’s Destroying America?

Is It Liberalism Or Marxism That’s Destroying America?
What is the communist agenda for America?
Most Americans realize there is something terribly wrong in our country today. However, people these days are too busy trying to further their careers, pay their taxes and have a little fun in their leisure time to pay much attention to the loss of liberties. After all, the loss of liberties is not broadcast on the six o’clock news, is it?
I heard a story some time ago about a goldfish and his goldfish bowl. The goldfish was losing two drops of water a day from his goldfish bowl. When confronted with this fact, the goldfish looked around his bowl and laughed as he replied “I’ve got the greatest goldfish bowl in all the world and it will never run out of water.” Of course as time passed by the two drops a day added up and one sad day the little goldfish found himself flapping around on his side until he died.
The moral of the story? As Americans we have been losing our freedoms a little bit at a time for a very long time. If you are like the goldfish you may be under the impression you will never lose all your freedoms. Please think again! It is a terrible mistake to assume that freedom is free and without cost. The freedoms we enjoy and take for granted have been paid for in blood, from the bloody footprints in the snow and ice of Valley Forge to foreign shores.
As an American just how much do you know about our country? As Woodrow Wilson so wisely stated “if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about.” How on earth can we understand what our nation has become today? How do you know what an American agenda is as opposed to a Marxist agenda? Better yet, what is Marxism? Do you know what that is, what it means, or is it merely just a word to you?
Anyone who has attended a Communist Party meeting can tell you that these communists rarely speak of communism; however, they often speak of “socialism” and how wonderful socialism is. They never tell the fools who listen to them that 85 percent of the wealth stays at the very top and only about 15 percent is divided among the peons. Fifteen percent isn’t a lot of money to be divided among all the people, is it?
You may be wondering what is the communist agenda in America. You may be even one of those people that believes communism is dead. Think again! Let’s review what was presented to the United States Congress in 1963. You can use it as a checklist to see how far along the “leftist liberal” road we have traveled as a nation.

Congressional Record Appendix
January 10, 1963 Appendix F Pages A34 & A35
Current Communist Goals Extension of Remarks of Hon. A. S. Herlong, Jr. of Florida in the House of Representatives Thursday, January 10, 1963.
Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patrica Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.
At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following ‘Current Communist Goals,’ which she identifies as an excerpt from ‘The Naked Communist,’ by Cleon Skousen.

[From 'The Naked Communist,' by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control for teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which is under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to ‘eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.’

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. ‘Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.’

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them ‘censorship’ and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as ‘normal, natural, healthy.’

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with ‘social’ religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a ‘religious crutch.’

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of ‘separation of church and state.’

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the ‘common man.’

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was a minor part of the ‘big picture.’ Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture — education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connelly reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.”

The above was placed in the Congressional Record on January 10th, 1963. So my friends you know where to find this same information if you doubt the veracity of what you are reading here. I do hope you checked all that has come to pass so far and better understand who is behind this agenda. They are much more than just liberals, aren’t they? And so the Marxist agenda marches on here in America.
