Bush: Congress is Failing To Meet Its Duties

CBN News

CBNews – President Bush accused Democratic lawmakers on Saturday of being unable to live up to their duties, citing Congress’ inability to pass legislation to fund the federal government.

“Democrats are failing in their responsibility to make tough decisions and spend the people’s money wisely,” Bush said in his weekly radio address. “This moment is a test.”

The White House has said the failure of a broad immigration overhaul
was proof that Democratic-controlled Capitol Hill cannot take on major
issues. “We saw this with immigration, and we’re seeing it with some
other issues where Congress is having an inability to take on major
challenges,” said spokesman Tony Fratto.

The main reason the immigration measure died, however, was staunch
opposition from Bush’s own base – conservatives. The president could
not turn around members of his own party despite weeks of intense
effort.

Pelosi Invests in Iran

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has disclosed that she holds stock valued at up to $15,000 in Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Alcatel SA), a company with extensive investments in Iran and Sudan — nations that sponsor terrorism.

The disclosure of Pelosi’s holdings comes at the same time that legislation is making its way through the California legislature barring state pension fund managers from investing in companies, like Alcatel-Lucent, that do business with “terror-friendly” nations.

Democrats spooked by rise of ‘new Reagan’

Telegraph.co.uk The Democratic party is so alarmed by the prospect of competing against Fred Thompson, a Republican who portrays himself as a successor to Ronald Reagan, that it is advising campaigners how to attack the former actor and Tennessee senator.

Mr Thompson is not expected to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination until next month, but Democratic strategists fear the combination of his conservatism, southern charm and populist style could make him a hard man to beat in 2008. Some polls have already placed him in the top two Republicans, underlining the weakness of his rivals. ::::More::::

DEMOCRATS TO CHANGE 185 YEAR-OLD HOUSE RULE TO ALLOW TAX HIKES WITHOUT HAVING TO VOTE

In a stunning move, House Democrats today revealed they will attempt to rewrite House rules that have gone unchanged since 1822 in order to make it possible to increase taxes and government spending without having to vote and be held accountable.  House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today vowed Republicans will use every available means to fight this unprecedented change.

Al Qaeda Membership Has its Privileges

Democrats in Congress are again pushing an effort to extend U.S. Constitutional protections to all the people of the world. Well, not all the people in the world, just the ones that are fanatically dedicated to slaughtering any and all Americans. If you’re not an Islamic terrorist obsessed with the wholesale murder of Americans, then you need not apply for the generous habeas corpus protections.

Astonishing as it may seem, congressional democrats are struggling in a time of war to find the best way to create an unprecedented package of legal benefits that will apply exclusively to the avowed enemies of the United States. It’s sort of a rewards plan for members of al Qaeda, and those who are of like mind. Ironically, they do this even as they look for a way to abandon the notion of bringing democracy to millions of people who have been brutally oppressed by despotic regimes and Islamic terrorist butchers whose contempt for such quaint legal concepts is well documented.
